The censhare Render-Client is used to remote control layout applications like Adobe InDesign Server.

Introduction

The censhare Render Client usually runs on a dedicated computer (the "Render-Server" in censhare’s terminology) together with the layout application(s) and supports multiple instances. The Render-Client has to login to the application server (typically with a dedicated user account: render-client), then scans for running layout applications on its host and registers the discovered layout applications to the censhare application server. The registered service is called LayoutService. The censhare Render-Client can run with a GUI or as a service and supports an auto-login feature for self-recovering Render-Servers. Regarding the technical specifications and network communication, the censhare Render-Client is identical to the censhare Client and will run in every environment that is supported by the censhare Client. The censhare Render-Client requires appropriate plugins and/or extensions to communicate with the layout applications.

Purpose

The LayoutService is used to

  • export PDFs from InDesign layouts

  • run geometry updates on InDesign layouts

  • create previews of InDesign layouts

Status

  1. Open censhare Admin-Client and go to Status|Services.
  2. In Status|Services search for LayoutService.
  3. Note State AVAILABLE and Access limit 1 which means a Render-Client with 1 layout application is connected.

In case you want to verify the status of the Render-Client note that you have to log into the server where the renderer client is installed.

  • Service Status: Online

    • Connection status to the server

  • Layout applications: Adobe InDesign Server CC 2015 (1x) pln 2.8.27

    • Version of layout application and PlugIn

  • Instances: 1 available

    • Instance count of the layout application

Stop/Start

Open Render-Client's File|Preferences|General...

Restart the Render-Client and layout application by closing and reopening the Render-Client.
