With Feature groups , you can configure sections in the Display and Edit dialog of the Product properties widget.

Configure Feature groups and assign product features in the censhare Admin Client. The Product properties widget shows feature groups in the defined order.

Introduction

In the Product properties widget, users manage the specifications and features of a product asset. The Product properties widget shows product features grouped by Feature groups. Feature groups define in which order product features are grouped and displayed in the widget.

Feature groups enhance the usability of the Product properties widget. The widget is preconfigured, to show features divided into Feature groups when they fulfill the following conditions:

The feature has the Trait key "product" or a classification trait key. (1)
The feature is assigned to a Product category.
The feature is assigned to a Feature group. (2)

Notes:

(1) In this and other articles about censhare PIM, these features are referred to as product features. Product features are Module / Feature assets with the "product" Trait key (or a classification trait key). The Product feature asset type (ID: product.feature.) is deprecated. Do not use it!

(2) Features that are not assigned to a Feature group are shown in an Others section below the defined Feature groups.

If you add custom product features to your PIM solution, always observe the conditions above. If a product feature that you created does not appear in the Product properties widget, verify that the feature definition uses the "product" Trait key (or a classification trait key) and that the feature is assigned to the current or a parent Product category.

Note: The Product properties widget is configured to work with the PIM standard solution as described in this article. Do not add any <cs-metadata-row/> elements to the dialog configuration of the Product properties widget!

Sample Feature groups and Feature group assignments

Important: If you import the test data, the following Feature groups are created. Sample data are subject to change without notice. Do not use the sample data in production systems!

Create Feature groups

In the censhare Admin Client, open the Master data/Feature groups entry. If you have imported the PIM sample data, the table shows some sample Feature groups.
To add a new Feature group, click . The configuration dialog opens.
Select the Enabled field.
In the ID field, enter the key for the new Feature group. Use the naming convention [ORGANISATION/CUSTOMER]:product.[FEATURE_GROUP_NAME]. For example: customer-xyz:product.technical-specifications
In the Name fields, add localized names for the Feature group.
In the Description field, enter localized descriptions for the Feature group. This field is optional. We recommend to always enter a description that can be shown in tooltips, tables, etc.
In the Label fields, enter the displayed labels for the Feature group. This entry is optional. Labels replace the name in the user interface of censhare Web.
In the Sorting field, enter an integer number that specifies the location of the Feature group in the Product properties widget. The sorting starts at 0 from the top. If two Feature groups have the same sorting, they are displayed in alphabetical order by their name or label.
To save the new Feature group, click OK.

Assign product features to feature groups

Note: Only assign product features that you require for product classification to Feature groups. By default, only the Trait keys "product" and standard classification features trait keys (for example GPC:20001606) display in the Product propertieswidget. To add custom Trait keys, change the standard configuration of the widget accordingly.

In the censhare Admin Client, open the Master data/Feature category group assignmentsentry. The table shows all assigned product features.
To assign a product feature, click . The configuration dialog opens.
Select the Enabled field.
In the Feature field, select the product feature that you want to assign. Standard product features of censhare PIM have the suffix (product). We recommend that you use the same for your custom features. Otherwise, ensure to select only features that have the Trait key "product".
Leave the Category field empty. This field is currently not used.
In the Group field, select the Feature group to which you want to assign the product feature.
To save the assignment, click OK.

Result

Product features that are assigned to a Feature group appear in the respective section of the Product properties widget on Product category, Product, and Product item asset pages. Remaining product features appear below the Feature groups in the Others section.
