Templates are a good way to create assets of a specific type with already predefined settings.

Depending on the configuration of your system and workspace, there are several templates available. Templates define the asset type and contain preconfigured properties, files or related assets.

Simple templates consist of a single asset. Structure templates consist of multiple related assets. When you create a new asset from a structure template, the entire structure is copied, including all of its related assets.

To create an asset from a template, select the  Asset from template  tab in the  Create asset  dialog or in the  Asset chooser:

  1. Select the desired template. Templates are stored thematically. Open a topic to see the templates that is contains.

  2. Enter a new name and edit or add other properties. Prefilled input fields show the preconfigured properties of the template. You can enter and change any data. We recommend that you always enter a new name and never use the template name for the new asset.

  3. To go back and select a different template, click CHANGE TEMPLATE. Note that you lose the properties that you entered or changed before.

  4. To save your changes and create the asset or asset structure, click OK.
