Preview window

The Editor for Adobe InCopy Documents uses Adobe InDesign servers to create previews for ICML text sections of text assets. If the text sections are placed in different layouts, you need to select which layout displays in the preview window. The preview window has its own zoom control to adjust the size of the content.

The toolbar (4) of the preview window: layout display (1), layout selection (2), Refresh preview (3), zoom factor (6) for preview (7), zoom factor selection (5)

An ICML text can be placed in a layout. This is indicated by the Layout field in the toolbar of the preview window:

  • If the Layout field is empty, the text asset is not placed in a layout yet, and there is no preview.

  • If the text asset is placed in a layout, you see a preview. The name of the current layout is indicated in the Layout field.

  • If the text asset is placed in multiple layouts, you can preview them and switch to another layout preview. Click the Layout drop-down list. The currently selected layout is highlighted in the list. Click the desired layout. The corresponding preview is created.

censhare only shows the section of the layout in which the text or text sections are placed. If the layout has multiple pages, they are not shown in the preview.
To preview a placed ICML text, the censhare server usually communicates with the Adobe InDesign server via the censhare Render Client. If problems arise with the preview, contact your censhare administrator.

Refresh preview

The preview is not automatically updated when you edit a text. As soon as you save your changes, the editor creates a new preview PDF. To preview a layout before saving your changes, click Refresh  in the toolbar of the preview window. Do not forget to save your changes afterwards!

Zoom preview

To zoom in and out of the preview, click the zoom drop-down list and select the desired factor in the preview window.

To specify an individual zoom factor, click the zoom factor box, enter a value and press Return.

You can also adjust the size of the preview window. Place the cursor on the divider between the editor window and the preview window. As soon as the cursor changes, pull the divider in the desired direction. The selected window size is restored next time you open an asset.

Tip for Administrators: To avoid performance issues when creating a preview, enter a suitable "Adobe PDF Preset" in the system asset. For questions, please contact censhare Support.

Preview overset texts

If a text section contains more text than fits within the layout, the preview displays an Overset text icon (1).

When censhare creates the preview for text sections, it checks whether the text fits completely within the associated text box in the layout. If that is not the case, the Overset text  is displayed.

Tip: If a text section is placed in multiple layouts, check each layout in the preview for a text overset.

Click Overset text to show details on how many characters, words and lines no longer fit into the box. Click the icon again to hide the details.
