Publish social media posts
With the Social media publishing wizard, create, schedule, and publish postings to your social media channels. censhare supports Twitter, Facebook, and YouTube.
Prerequisites
This feature is available as of censhare 2020.2
The Social media channel, to which you want to publish, must be configured. This is normally done by your censhare administrator.
Introduction
You can integrate your social media management seamlessly into censhare Web. You can publish images and videos directly from your asset repository in censhare on Facebook and YouTube. Social media orchestration becomes part of your marketing campaign planning in censhare Web.
To publish content from censhare Web to Twitter, Facebook or YouTube, you must set up the respective channel that authenticates the user and connects censhare to the social network. The connection is bi-directional. User reactions (for example likes, shares, comments) are sent back to censhare.
For each post in a social network, you create a social media post in censhare web. The content and reactions are stored and displayed in social media post assets. To create a social media post, censhare Web provides the Social media publishing wizard. The wizard takes you step-by-step through the creation of a social media post. You can publish social media posts immediately or schedule the publishing for later.
Create social media post
Before you start:
(1) You need the respective permissions to use the wizard. If you do not have the permissions, contact an administrator.
(2) Social media posts require an author. The author is set in the respective social media channel. To change the author, open the Social media channel asset and select the desired author before you create a new social media post with the wizard. If you schedule a post for future publishing, you can also edit the post and change the author afterward, as long as the post is not published yet.
To create a social media post, do the following:
To start the wizard, in the Top navigation, click Actions and select Create social media post.
Select the social media channel to which you want to publish and click NEXT.
Enter the content:
Twitter: Text only. Enter up to 140 characters.
Facebook: Text and media assets (images or videos).
YouTube:Title, description, and a video asset.
Note: On publishing, media files are uploaded to the server of the respective social network. If you change the media asset of a social media post after publishing, this has no effect on the published file.
Click NEXT. The Settings step opens.
Enter an internal name.
Note: The internal name is only used in censhare. It is not published. If you do not enter an internal name, the generic name is used. We recommend that you enter a self-explanatory internal name. Otherwise, all your social media posts have the same name in censhare.
To publish the social media post immediately, leave the publication date empty. To schedule the publication to a future date/time, select a Publication date.
Note: The actual publication date/time can differ from the selected date/time. This is due to the time interval set in the scheduler (cron expression). For example, you publish a social media post immediately (without publication date) at 10:20 hours, and the scheduler runs on the hour. Hence, your post will be published at 11:00 hours.
Click NEXT.
In the Confirm step, review your post.
To change the settings or the content, click PREVIOUS. To save your post, click DONE.
Once you finish the wizard, the social media post asset is created.
Publish social media post
Depending on the workflow that is associated with your social media management, creating a post does not necessarily publish it to the page/profile in the respective social network. This depends on the approval settings. Social media posts can be associated to a workflow that includes an approval step. Without the approval, a social media post cannot be published.
Publish without approval
If no approval step is configured in the social media workflow, no further action is required. The last step of the Social media publishing wizard corresponds to the Ready for publishing step. The social media post is published immediately, or at the defined publication date/time. You can skip the following section.
Publish with approval
If your social media publishing workflow requires a review, the newly created asset is put in the respective workflow step (for example: Awaiting approval). Assign the social media post to the relevant contact for approval. The social media post is only published after the approval and with the corresponding Ready for publishing workflow step. To review and approve the social media post, proceed as described in the following section.
To approve a social media post, do the following:
Open the social media post asset in an asset page.
Click to open the Actions menu and select Edit properties.
In the dialog, go to the Workflow tab.
To approve the post for publication, select the corresponding workflow step.
Click OK to close the dialog.
Caution: Social media posts that are created with the Social networks publishing wizard are stored as assets of the respective type (Social post / *). Do not edit the asset properties, content, or referenced media of these assets afterwards! Editing of social media posts that are already published has no effect on the content that is published in the social network. Editing social media posts that are not yet published, can cause errors with the publication.
