Introduction
Translation without memory is a simple translation tool in censhare Web. Translation without memory does not require the setup and management of a translation memory with segments, rules and glossary. You can translate text assets on-the-fly, without preparation and configuration. You can also update an existing translation. For example, when there have been late changes to a text.
Translate text
To translate the text:
Open the target language text asset.
Go to the Translation tab. The left widget Content changes shows content and translation changes. The right widget shows the Editor where you enter the translations.
Enter your translation.
Save the translation. The translated text is stored in the target asset.
Content changes
The Content changes widget tracks all asset versions with content and translation changes. To edit and update a translation, you can compare the current translation either to the source text or to previous versions of the translation. You can switch between the two modes:
Compare parent - Display updates to the content of the source language text.
Compare versions - Display updates to previously translated versions of the text.
Modifications are marked as follows:
Deleted text is striked-through.
New text is highlighted.
Editor
The Editor displays the latest version of the translated text. In the Editor, you enter and update your translations.
You translate XML texts in the Content Editor.
You translate ICML texts in the Editor for Adobe InCopy documents.
Compare translation to source text
To compare your translation to the source language text:
Open the target language text asset.
Go to the Translation tab.
By default, the Compare parent mode is selected. The Content changes widget shows the latest version of the source language text.
To check if all previous changes to the source text have been translated: select the previous version of the source text. The "Content changes" widget now displays and highlights the changes to the previous version. For example, if the latest version of the source text is version 5, select version 4. Updates to version 5 are now highlighted.
In the Editor widget, update the translation according to the changes displayed
Save the asset.
Compare translation to previous translations
To compare the latest translation of the text asset to previously translated versions:
Open the target language text asset.
Go to the Translation tab.
On the Content changes widget, select Compare version. The Content changes widget now shows the latest version of the translated text.
To display a different version of the target asset and the changes between this and the latest version: select a version from the list. For example, if the latest target asset version is 3, select version 2. Now, the changes between version 3 and version 2 are displayed.
To check for previous changes to the translated text, select another version.
If needed, update the translation.
Save the asset.
