We restored censhare‘s custom and multibranding feature that allows you to align your censhare system appearance with your branding.

Custom and multibranding is available again with the 2022.2 release and comes with a refactored code base and improved documentation. Keycloak-based pages – login and account – can now be customized and aligned with the censhare Web UI as well as with your corporate design in general.

Xeditor initial integration

The Xeditor is an XML-based editor for the structured, media-neutral text content of your articles. Offered by the Xpublisher GmbH, it provides user-friendly authoring of your articles, directly in the censhare Web UI, even without any XML experience. By this initial integration, we expand censhare‘s capabilities for content editing of structured texts. This is intended to address concerns of our customers in regard to the missing functionalities in the existing Content Editor and to offer them a professional publishing tool based on the latest standards.

Xeditor integration reduces the training effort of censhare users enormously.

Highlights CORE

Security

We are constantly working on updating our 3rd party libraries to benefit from security enhancements introduced by the original provider.  In addition to that, we performed a major penetration test in collaboration with an external specialist and tackled all critical issues. Last but not least, customer findings from their own penetration tests were treated with the highest priority.

All security improvements will be made available also for older versions according to our end of service policy.

Customization improvements

As with any other update, we continue expanding censhare‘s customization capabilities in the 2022.2 release. We implemented direct access to widget configuration templates from the asset page to make admin‘s life easier. However, we also thought on security. Customization should never open the door to any vulnerabilities. That‘s why we imposed limits on executing custom transformations. At the same time, we do not want to block your work and implemented a server action that will for check problematic transformations and help you to correct them.

Headless CMS and Online Channel release notes

HCMS and OC have a different release cadence. Their release notes can be found on the respective pages:

Deprecations

  • The dark mode in Java Client had to be deprecated due to the outdated underlying library. The light mode is still enabled, verified and stable.
  • SOAP web services were deprecated due to its high complexity and maintenance effort and replaced with the modern and flexible REST API. It means that SOAP/WSDL access to assets does not work anymore, i.e., only incoming SOAP calls are affected.
  • The following formats for 3D models have been recently deprecated by their third-party providers. The data can be kept in the censhare system, but no preview can be generated for such models.

    • .AWD
    • .BABYLON

Known issues

An overview of known conceptual and functional limitations. The overview is not intended and does not serve as a binding and complete bug and missing features list.

InCopy Editor known issues

We are constantly working on improving our InCopy Editor. However, for now, there are a few known issues we would like to inform you about. Please refer to this page for the full list.

Adobe InDesign plugin 2023 known issues on mac OS

The new Adobe InDesign plugin 2023 is fully functional. However, you need to be aware of its unusual behaviour on mac OS.

See Adobe InDesign support for complete information.

Version parity between censhare Java-based clients and censhare Server

You can only connect with a censhare Java-based client (censhare Client, Admin Client, Render Client) 2022.x.x via Keycloak to the censhare Server of the same version 2022.x.x. Older clients do not work and the following error message displays:

BASH
UnrecognizedPropertyException: Unrecognized field "socket-timeout-millis"

Exception: Keycloak with censhare standard authentication

Content Editor known issue

Footnotes get split up into multiple ones when a part of the footnote is formatted. We recommend to refrain from using any formatting with footnotes and apologize for the inconvenience.

Xeditor known issues

  • Removing media content in Safari browser. If you use Xeditor in Safari and want to remove a media from the content in the edit mode, this cannot be done with the backspace button. For more information, see  Edit and save Xeditor texts .
  • Paragraphs are lost while copying and pasting from an external source. If you copy and paste text content from an external source, e.g., a website or a Word document, into Xeditor, the paragraph formatting will be lost. The entire piece will be posted as one paragraph.

We are actively working on solving these issues.

CI HUB known issue

A (sub)folder added in CI HUB may get an error when you try to open it. If you see the following message:

BASH
GET /api/v1/assets/folder failed: Error: GET
/entry/folder/undefined failed: Error: Request failed with status code 404

simply click the "Reload folder" button. The folder will be opened normally.

However, the issue is not always reproducible, and the reasons for it can only be found out and fixed by the third-party provider.

Flatplan known issue

When working with flatplans for print & publication planning, you may encounter the following problem. When you add a multipage PDF in the flatplan editor, the size of the pages will be shown bigger as they are and as exceeding the size of the issue pages.

Both censhare Web flatplans and censhare Client flatplans are affected. In censhare Client, you will also see the error Parts are outside of the printable area in the Warnings tab. Possible consequences are:

  • Issue asset export. If you use the Standard export option to export the issue asset, the sizes of all page should be correct and as specified on the issue asset. Other export options may not work as expected.
  • Workflows that rely on the page sizes may inherit the wrong calculation. This is currently being investigated.

We are actively working on solving this issue.
