Edit asset structures

Place articles, products and other asset structures.

Place asset structures

Places asset structures such as products just like you would place texts and images using the asset chooser dialog or drag and drop. You can use the pinboard or the "Asset lists" widget to do this. For example, click a product asset and drag it to the desired layout group. To place the product on the layout group you can’t hold down the SHIFT key like with individual assets. When you drag it, censhare doesn’t highlight the individual frames, but rather the layout groups.

As soon as you are above the layout group, it changes visually and shows you the drop area. Now you can drop the structure asset over the desired layout group. How the individual assets are distributed among the various frames of the group is up to censhare based on the rules defined in the individual frames.

Alternatively, you can place the asset structures using the asset chooser dialog. To do that, click the desired group and then select the “Place asset” button. The asset chooser dialog will open. Select the desired structure asset and confirm your selection with “OK”. For more information see the article about the asset chooser dialog.

If assets are already placed in a layout group in the frame, these will be replaced by the new placement. If frames in a layout group have a content lock, it won’t apply when placing an asset structure, but you then won’t be able to edit the content of the frame.

Click now on the “Reload” button to update the preview for the layout document. A rendering process will begin in the background.

Detach  asset structures

To detach an asset structure you need to remove the connection between the frame and the asset for every individual frame in the group. To do that, click the "Detach asset" button in the action bar of the frame.

Select alternative placements

If the “Optional placements” button appears on the frame, there is at least one alternative placement available. If you move the cursor to the frame, to the right of the button you will see the number of alternative placements available.

To change the placement click the button. An asset chooser dialog will open with all of the assets you can place there instead. Click the desired asset and confirm your selection with “OK”. Click CANCEL to exit the dialog without making the placement.
