Resource keys - SysAdmin
The resource key of an asset is used to uniquely identify a resource asset in a censhare system. It is stored in a text field as an asset feature. censhare uses resource keys to identify system assets.
Overview
Compared to the asset ID, the resource key has the advantage that it does not change when an asset is exported and imported into another censhare system. censhare uses the resource key to call system assets or to find and update them during an update.
Tip: If you need to enter a resource key when creating an asset, you are free to choose the name. However, this must be unique and, therefore, still does not exist in the system. If this is not true you will receive an error message.
Tip: It is also important when selecting the key that you enter a token for your company or the respective service provider at the beginning of the actual key name and then separate that from the rest of the key with a ":". This indicates that it is not a system value, but rather a customer-specific value. This is important in the case of a support incident, for instance.
Tip: Resource keys with the "censhare" token are system relevant and may not be changed.
