Change links in the side navigation
In the "My pages" area of the side navigation you can add links, change the order of links or make changes to existing links. The side navigation is part of the standard workspace structure.
Introduction
The side navigation is part of the standard workspace structure. The user can make changes herself once, which censhare then saves in her user workspace. Using resource replace variants, the "My pages" area can also be modified in the side navigation.
Changing the "My pages" navigation area using a variant of the "Left workspace navigation group" (blue), changing a link using a variant of the "Left workspace navigation group" (red) and adding an extra navigation item (green)
The following configuration options are available to you for the "My pages" area of the side navigation:
Hide all links
Add link
Change existing link
Link removable by user
Change order of links
You can find the left workspace navigation group "My pages" via the standard workspace asset. Open it in the search page and switch to the column view. Under the rubric "Left workspace navigation" you'll find the various navigation groups.
For all changes to the "My pages" area you need to first create a resource replace variant from the left workspace navigation group asset "My pages".
Changing the order of links
Open the resource replace variants for the "My pages" navigation group
and go to the widget that shows the assets with the links. If this is not available, create it.
The order in the list reflects the order of the links in the side navigation. Go to an entry in the list and use the arrow keys to move it up or down to the correct position.
Adding links
Create an asset of the type "Left workspace navigation item" using the "New asset" option in the "Create asset" function. Give it a suitable name and resource key
Open the new asset in the Java Client and go to the "Features" tab. Create the field "Navigation URL" in the "Features" area and enter the desired relative path.
Create the field "Navigation item type" in the "Features (internal)" area and enter the value "item" for a link.
To define an icon for the link, create the field "Workspace icon" and add the name of the icon here. A list of icons can be found in the style guide on the censhare server. The icon list has the relative path "styleguide/atom-icons". Attach this to the base URL, for example
https://localhost.censhare.com:9443/censhare5/client/styleguide/styles/icons
Open the resource replace variants for the navigation group "My pages" and go to the widget that shows the assets with the links. If this is not available, create it.
Add the new link asset to the list using the "+" button in the widget bar. censhare will then automatically create the suitable relation. censhare will then automatically create the suitable relation.
Removing links
Open the resource replace variants for the navigation group "My pages" and go to the widget that shows the assets with the links. If this is not available, create it.
Go to the corresponding link in the list and select "Remove relation" in the asset action menu. censhare deletes the relation and removes the asset from the list.
If you only want to remove a link temporarily, you can deactivate the asset.
Changing links
Find the desired link in the side navigation of standard workspace structure. Use that to create a resource replace variant and open this in the Java Client.
Go to the field "Navigation URL" and enter the desired relative path.
Widget with list of link entries
To create a widget with the list of link entries, first add the "Asset list based on linked assets" widget in the admin mode. Then you still need to configure it.
In admin mode you are not just able to add widget configurations to tabs but also widgets directly. The menu entry "Add widget type" can be found in the side menu of the asset page.
After you have placed the widget "Asset based on linked assets", open the action menu of the widget and select the entry "Configure widget".
In the area "Relation or reference", select the entry "Left workspace navigation" for the "Type" field. You also need to select the field "User-defined sorting". That allows you to later change the order of the links in the widget.
If need be, enter a name for the widget in the field "Widget title" in the "General configuration" area.
