If the sample data for censhare Dedicated solutions are installed in your system: Remove them before you install the censhare DAM Starter Kit. For more information, see the section Remove sample data in Import sample data for Dedicated Solutions.
Introduction
To install the censhare DAM Starter Kit in your system, the censhare workspace for dedicated solutions must be installed.
When you run the synchronization, censhare installs the simple DAM workspace and the underlying governance model. The synchronization imports the following into your system:
Masterdata: Domains, workflows, asset types and MIME types
Root categories: Media-specific asset categories that inherit their child categories to the respective asset types.
Asset pages: User role-specific asset pages for media assets, document assets, category assets, keyword assets.
Workspace views: Custom image preview.
Navigation: User role-specific side navigation items.
The governance model is based on the following domain structure:
censhare DAM Starter Kit domain tree
The domain tree is a fundamental part of the governance model, and works seamlessly with the user roles, permissions and module assets. If you need to change or adjust the domain tree for your solution, read Standard governance model for censhare Web before you change anything.
To finalize the installation of the censhare DAM Starter Kit, follow the key steps below.
Enable automatic synchronization
This module ensures that the censhare DAM Starter Kit workspace is synchronized every time you restart the censhare Server.
In the censhare Admin Client, open the Configuration/Modules/Administration/Module Assets/Synchronize DAM Starter Kit configuration.
In the General setup section, ensure that the Enabled field is checked.
In the Configuration asset import section, in the Search paths area, make sure that only the following path is entered and is correct:
for the censhare versions starting from 2020.3 but lower than 2021.x
BASHdedicated-solutions/09_dam-starter-kit
for censhare versions starting from 2021.x
BASHdam-starter-kit
If any additional paths are shown, remove them using the trash icon.
Click OK to save the configuration.
Update the server configuration, and if necessary, synchronize the remote servers.
Run initial synchronization
To import the master data and workspace configurations of the censhare DAM Starter Kit, do the following:
In the censhare Admin Client, click and select Synchronize DAM Starter Kit.
In the dialog, select all paths and click OK.
The resulting dialog displays the result of the synchronization. If there are any warnings or errors, check the log files for more information.
Click OK to close the dialog.
Set up asset type inheritance rule for categories
The simple DAM workspace of the censhare DAM Starter Kit contains media-specific root asset categories (image, audio, video, 3D model, document, person). The root categories are used to build a taxonomy of your assets.
A feature inheritance rule ensures that the asset type filter from the root category is inherited to child categories. This keeps the taxonomy consistent. For example: image categories can only be assigned to Image asset, etc.
The Feature inheritance rules for asset type filters must be configured manually as follows:
Log in to censhare Web as a System administrator.
Search the Asset categories to sub-categories feature inheritance rule (resource key: censhare:feature-inheritance-rule.asset-categories-to-sub-categories) and open it.
Go to the overview tab.
In the Inheritance rule of widget, click and add the Asset type filter feature.
Ensure that the asset queries are set correctly:
Source asset query: All asset categories
Relation asset query: Subcategories of asset categories
Set up the common resources domain
The censhare DAM Starter Kit applies the new censhare standard governance model with an additional Common resources / Common domain. In the system configuration, this domain must be configured as the default domain to store keyword and category assets.
Do the following:
Log in to censhare Web as a System administrator.
Search the System asset and open it.
In the System properties widget, click to edit the properties.
In the dialog, go to the Assets tab.
In the Resource key handling section, select the domains:
Common resource domain: Root / Common resources / Common
Common resource 2nd domain: Root
Click OK to close the dialog, and then click SAVE to save your changes.
Result
The censhare DAM Starter Kit workspace is running on your system.
