Project setup & customization
Essential steps to set up a production system with the censhare DAM Starter Kit. The steps are exemplary for a simple DAM solution.
Context
The set up is done in the workspace of the censhare DAM Starter Kit.
Prerequisites
The censhare DAM Starter Kit must be installed and set up on your system.
Introduction
To build a production system based on the censhare DAM Starter Kit, you must set up the essential resources described in this article. Be aware that the configurations depend on the design of your DAM project and vary from project to project.
The DAM resources described in this recipe belong either to the Solution layer or to the Production layer. Ensure that you store the assets in the corresponding domain - Common resources or Common resources / Common.
Set up Quality gates
To fulfill the quality requirements of your assets, you can implement Quality gates in censhare. A Quality gate represents a level of completeness. Quality gates cannot be assigned directly to assets. Instead, they are put together in a Quality gate sequence. Quality gate sequences are applied to an asset type.
The censhare DAM Starter Kit is pre-configured with two dedicated quality gate sequences:
Media quality gate sequence: Applies to image, video, 3D model and audio assets.
Quality gate: Created
Quality gate: Files
Quality gate: Properties
Quality gate: Signed off
Document quality gate sequence: Applies to document, presentation and spreadsheet assets.
Quality gate: Created
Quality gate: Signed off
Adjust the pre-configured Quality gates according to your quality requirements:
Remove quality gates that you do not need from the Quality gate sequence.
Create additional quality gates and assign them to the respective Quality gate sequence. Store Quality gates in the Common resources domain.
Create and assign the desired completeness checks to the Quality gates. Store completeness checks in the Common resources domain.
Set up approvals
Approvals can be used in any stage of the production workflow of your assets. Approvals can be added for certain areas (for example: Creative, technical, budget).
In the censhare DAM Starter Kit, you can add the pre-configured approval types to the Approvals tab inside the Communication tab of your assets. For more information about the configuration of approval types and the approval dialogs, see Configure Approvals for Dedicated Solutions.
Set up team roles
With team roles, you can assign a role to a user in the context of an asset. In the Team tab inside the Usage tab of an asset, you can assign a team to an asset, and give each team member a team role.
In the censhare DAM Starter Kit, the pre-configured team roles for dedicated solutions work out of the box. To customize the existing team roles, do the following:
Log in to the censhare Web as System administrator.
Search for the Team member role feature (resource key: censhare:feature.team-member.role).
Remove the team role feature items that you do not need.
Add additional team role feature items if necessary.
To rename a default team role feature item, create a resource replace variant and edit the properties of the resource replace variant.
Team roles are independent of the role a user has when she logs in to censhare Web. Team roles do not change the permissions of a user in the system.
Set up the categories and keywords
Categories and keywords build the taxonomy of your assets. For project setup, we recommend using these as follows:
Use Categories to build a hierarchical structure. The censhare DAM Starter Kit has root categories for each asset type. Child categories can only be used to classify the respective asset type. For example, if you create a child category Podcasts in the Audio categories root, a feature inheritance rule ensures that this child category can only be assigned to Audio asset types.
We recommend you to build the category hierarchy for each asset type in a way that only one category is assigned to an asset. This keeps the category tree unambiguous and easy to search.
Use Keywords to classify your assets in a less restrictive way than Categories. The Keywords feature of censhare allows to create hierarchical keyword trees. The keyword trees represent semantic hypernymy-hyponymy relations. For example: Nature > Animals > Birds; Nature > Plants > Trees and Nature > Landscapes > Forest.
Assets can be classified with multiple keywords from the same or different keyword hierarchies. For example, an image asset can be classified with the three keywords Birds, Trees and Forest from the example above.
For more information about hierarchical keywords and other keyword types in censhare, see Working with keywords.
Google Cloud AI services
The censhare DAM Starter Kit workspace is pre-configured for automated image analyses with Google Vision and video analyses with Google Video Intelligence. Google Vision image analyses detect objects, landmarks, logos and web entities, and analyse colors and text in images. Google Video Intelligence adds keywords and creates a speech transcript. For more information, see Concept of Google Cloud AI analysis.
The Google Cloud AI integration and the respective services must be set up to use this functionality. For more information, see Configure Google Cloud AI services.
Use the censhare DAM Workspace without Google Cloud AI services
If you do not use Google Cloud AI services with the censhare DAM Starter Kit, we recommend to disable the related workspace items:
Remove the Analysis tabs
Log in to censhare Web as System administrator.
Search the Asset image light (specialist) workspace page (resource key: censhare:workspace.page.specialist.assetImageLight).
Create a Resource replace variant and open it.
In the Workspace pages widget, remove the Tab Analysis (specialist image).
Search the Asset video light (specialist) workspace page (resource key: censhare:workspace.page.specialist.assetVideoLight).
Create a Resource replace variant and open it.
In the Workspace pages widget, remove the Tab Analysis (specialist video).
Remove the Quality gates
Log in to censhare Web as System administrator.
Search the Quality gate sequence | Media quality gate sequence (resource key: censhare:dedicated.quality-gate-sequence.media).
Create a Resource replace variant and open it.
In the Quality gates widget, remove the Properties (media) quality gate.
Result
A ready-to-use DAM workspace.
