Update & create assets

The CI HUB panel integrates assets directly into your workflows in Adobe CC applications. You can create new assets and update asset files.

Update assets

Files that you edit in an Adobe CC application can be uploaded again to update the assets in censhare. Proceed as follows:

  1. In the Result section of the CI HUB panel, select the desired asset.
  2. In the Details section, click
    .
  3. In the dialog, select the desired options:

    File from
Active documentSelect one of currently opened documents from the dropdown list.
Local file systemSelect the local copy of the file from your computer.
    FilenameFilled in automatically.
  4. When uploading or updating an Adobe InDesign project, the CI HUB panel shows additional options:
    • With PDF
    • With InDesign package

If you select these options, censhare uploads the package (ZIP file) and PDF and creates the respective assets in the same folder as the original INDD project file.

  5. Click OK to proceed.

Limitations

Adobe InDesign

When you update or upload an Adobe InDesign project file (file type: INDD) via CI HUB panel, the layout asset, when opened in censhare Web, does not show a paginated preview in the preview widget.

Microsoft Powerpoint

When updating an asset via Microsoft Powerpoint (asset type: presentation / file type: PPT or PPTX), the updated asset does not show a preview of the slides when opened in censhare Web.

Create new assets

To create a new asset, you can upload a file to the censhare Server from the CI HUB panel. Do the following:

  1. In the Result section of the CI HUB panel, select the target folder to which you want to add the new asset.
  2. Click
    .
  3. In the dialog, select the desired options:

    File from
Active documentSelect one of currently opened documents from the dropdown list.
Local file systemSelect the local copy of the file from your computer.
FilenameEnter an asset name. The asset name can be different from the file name. The file extension is added automatically.
    Asset type

    Select the corresponding asset type.

If you select an asset type that does not correspond to the selected file type, the asset that is created might lack important functionality, and will not be found in searches with type filters!

  4. Click OK to proceed.

The file is uploaded to censhare, and an asset is created. The new asset is displayed in the target folder. In censhare Web, the asset can be accessed and opened in an asset page.

Limitations

Adobe InDesign

When creating an asset via Adobe InDesign (asset type: layout/file type: INDD), the CI HUB panel shows additional options:

  • With PDF
  • With InDesign package

These options are currently not supported and throw an error when updating. Do not select these options! When opened in censhare Web, layout assets that were created via CI HUB do not show a paginated preview in the preview widget.

Microsoft Powerpoint

When creating an asset via Microsoft Powerpoint (asset type: presentation/file type: PPT or PPTX), the new asset does not show a preview of the slides when opened in censhare Web.

Asset metadata synchronization

Media files such as images, videos, PDFs and media production files such as Adobe InDesign layouts can contain embedded metadata that are important for usage and production. For example, the standardized IPTC tags contain image caption, author name, copyright notice, etc.

When you create or update an asset via the CI HUB panel, the embedded metadata are written into the respective asset properties. However, there is a limitation that prevents such that these metadata are displayed in the CI HUB panel.

To view and edit the metadata, open the asset in censhare Web. See also the section about metadata synchronization in Open, download & place assets.
