How to use search

Default search results filter

By default, the search engine uses the context of the search to filter the search results. What it means:

If you start the search from an article, the search will only show articles in the same product line, i.e., either Classic, or Cloud, or Online Solutions, and the same version of the product (if applicable).

Consequently, the results may be different for the same search term, depending on the context (product line and version). The same applies to the AI search.

You can see the context of your search next to the actual search results list. The UI placement may vary depending on the browser width (see examples below).

Filter values

Due to some technical limitations, the filter contains more options that can be of direct use for you.

Product options

Product line options are the following:

  • Cloud Censhare guide for admins & developers

  • Classic Censhare Server & Clients documentation

  • Online Solutions documentation: stands for HeadlessCMS (HCMS), Online Channel, HCMS Content Picker, and HCMS Client Starter Kit (HCMS CSK)

Other options do not refer to any specific product line, but to some general information, e.g., legal information, feature request process in Censhare, etc.

Censhare versions

Censhare Classic has multiple versions, depending on EOL and EOS of the product. Censhare Cloud has only one latest version.

Changing the search filter

The filter is available next to the search field, exact placement depends on the browser width. The filter only appears after you ran your first seach.

To search through all product lines, you need to change the filter to “Search all”.

You can also limit or expand your search by using the version filter where applicable.

On mobile or with a limited browser width, the filter takes the whole view. To confirm your choice of settings, click on the X, the values will be saved.

If you start your search from the home page of any portal, it will search through all product lines, but the version filter won’t be available since different products are versioned differently:

As soon as you select a certain product, the version filter appears for versioned products.

Therefore, for better search results, always start your search from the proper context.

Last but not least, you can formulate your questions “in a human manner” and click on “Ask AI” to get an answer directly together with references to relevant documentation articles.

The same filtering and default context rules are applicable to the AI search.
