A Product item group contains product items that vary in one single feature. Several product item groups build a matrix of product item variations of a product.
Context
Product item groups are structural assets that can be used to group product items. If a Product item group is assigned to a Product, the respective Product items are automatically assigned to the Product.
Usage
Product item groups are optional child assets of a product. A product item group contains a subset of the Product items of a Product, that vary in a single feature. For example, a Product item group contains all Product items in different sizes. A second Product item group contains all Product items in different colors. These two Product item groups are assigned to the Product. In the Product, a matrix is built that shows all available combinations of size/color of that Product:

Product items are used as products. You can overwrite any product feature or replace any related content that a product item inherits from the parent product:
