In this article, you learn what a Marmind media placeholder asset is, how to upload a file to it, and what happens afterward.
About Marmind media placeholder assets
A Marmind media placeholder asset is a stub asset that reserves a slot for a file that you have not uploaded yet. It lets Marmind and Censhare users plan and reference a future asset before its actual file exists.
Marmind usually creates a Marmind media placeholder asset automatically as part of the Marmind integration. You can also create a Marmind media placeholder asset manually in Censhare Web.
Prerequisites
Your administrator needs to enable the Marmind: Convert media placeholder on upload module in the Censhare Admin Client before you can use Marmind media placeholder assets. In the Censhare Admin Client, go to:
Configuration / Modules / Asset Attributes / Marmind: Convert media placeholder on upload
This module is disabled by default.
If a file that you upload does not convert automatically, ask your administrator to check this setting. For more information, see Marmind integration.
Marmind media placeholder asset workspace
A Marmind media placeholder asset's workspace shows only two widgets:
-
File widget: lets you upload the binary file for the asset.
-
Status properties widget: works exactly like the status properties widget on an Image asset.
Uploading a file to a Marmind media placeholder asset
Follow these steps to upload a file and convert the Marmind media placeholder asset into its final asset type:
-
Open the Marmind media placeholder asset in Censhare Web.
-
Upload your file using the File widget.
-
Refresh the workspace.
Expected result
By default, Censhare converts the Marmind media placeholder asset into an Image, Video, Audio, or Document asset based on the MIME type of the uploaded file. An administrator can customize this mapping in the module configuration. The workspace now shows the widget configuration for that asset type instead of the placeholder configuration.
Domain handling after conversion
After conversion, the asset stays in the "root.marmind-internal" domain. You need to move the asset into the appropriate media domain yourself.
To move the asset, open the asset page actions menu and select Edit properties. Change the Domain property to the appropriate media domain and select OK. For more information, see Edit individual assets.
You can move the asset only to a domain that you can access. If the appropriate media domain is not available, contact your administrator.
The asset only appears in the Marmind asset picker once it is in the correct media domain.
Known limitations
Moving the converted asset to the correct media domain is a manual step.
If a placeholder asset does not convert after upload, ask your administrator to check whether the Marmind: Convert media placeholder on upload module is enabled.
