Configure the Table view for asset lists
In the Table view for asset lists, search results are shown in a table with additional asset details for each entry. Users can expand each entry in order to show children of the selected item. The columns and the asset details displayed in each column are configured in a Table asset. Customize the default settings to your needs.
The table view mode is available to all users on search pages in censhare Web.
Prerequisites
You should be familiar with the configuration of tables in censhare Web.
censhare since 2018.2
Introduction
The "Table view" mode creates a table output of search results where users can see additional asset details in the table columns. The Table view can be expanded hierarchically in order to show related child assets for each top-level result. This works similar to the "Column" view mode, whereas the Table view shows related assets in indented rows. Also, in the Table view, you can show related assets for more than one asset at the same time just by expanding multiple items.
Configuration
The Table view works out of the box in censhare Web. For that purpose, we have added a default configuration. However, you can customize the columns and the displayed asset properties in each column for your system.
Proceed as follows:
Open the "Default asset table view" asset. You can find it by searching for this name or the corresponding resource key "censhare:table.default.asset". This Table asset stores the default Table view configuration. You find the configuration in the "Columns" widget. For a list of the default columns, see the section "Default table setup" below.
Create a resource replace variant of this asset by clicking the + button in the "Resource variant" widget. For more details on this topic, read the article Modifying module assets using replace variants.
To create a new Resource replace variant, switch to the tab "New asset", select the asset type "Module / Table" and enter a name and resource key. You can add further properties in this dialog now or do it later.
Open the newly created Table asset and add the desired columns in the Columns widget. You can use existing assets or create your own ones. For more information about Table and Column assets, see the article Configuring the table layout and column details for tables.
Note: Make sure not to remove the column "Asset item (default table)". This column creates an output of asset icon and name. It is set to "Frozen" so that it is always displayed at the left and will not disappear if a user scrolls to the right. Do not edit this Column asset without reason! Otherwise, the Table view and other table outputs in censhare Web might not show proper data.
