Configure variant editing in InDesign (censhare Client)

When editing text and images in the Editor for InDesign Documents in the censhare Client, users can edit variants instead of the original asset. After saving, the asset structure is updated accordingly to the variant and placed instead of the original.

Configuration

Definable cases include:

  • Text and images are placed in another layout.
  • The text or image users want to edit text is the master content. But changes should be performed only on variants.
  • It can be defined that a variant should be created from the contexts of layout and original content.
  • Check-out placements in InDesign.
  • When opening placed assets it is checked, whether a variant has to be created.
  • If a variant has to be created, it is created via XSLT, the placement within the layout is swapped and the asset opens.

Definition of cases for generating a variant:

  • Via XSLT with the source: Original content Asset XML
  • Parameter: Layout Asset XML
  • Result: "true" or "false"
